Ba-Donk-A-Donk

So, if you're reading this, you probably are one of the ones who has never met me before... welcome to Angie 101 and my craziness. I like to think of myself as caring, positive, loyal, responsible, someone you can count on, sometimes forgetful, occasionally mean, probably more things, but my ending point is a fun, dry sense of humor. I'm pretty sure I get that from my Dad :) At any rate, here is my "did she just write that out loud?"...

I'm trying to lose weight and and the first thing that I've noticed is that I'm losing it in my lower back. You know, the part that sits on top of your butt. How do I know this? After having Nathan, I noticed that when I walked or came down the stairs, that I had a little extra jiggle... it was horrifying to feel!! Well, just in the past week, I've noticed that the jiggle isn't there any more ~ wahooey! So what I'm doing just to make sure it's not there is walking and really swinging my hips back and forth to see if the ba-donk-a-donk wave is there. See, if you were a fly on the wall...

Nathan's 18 month appointment

You know, for the past few weeks I've been telling people that Nathan is 19 months! How dare I age my child by one month!! He's already growing too quickly let alone me adding another month to him.

Today's appointment went well. I just love our Pediatrician. I enjoy being able to have a conversation with Dr's on things other than the routine office visit things... you know, get to know them better without overstaying my welcome of course. We've come a long way because when I first met him I thought, what a jerk! A few appointments down the road, I noticed that he was a completely different guy from the first meeting and figured that he was just having a stressful day that day. I actually brought it up to him a couple of months ago and he told me to let him know if he comes across that way again. :)

Okay, so back to Nathan ~ he's in the 50% for his height at 32-1/4" and in the 25% for weight at 23-8oz. Interestingly enough he has a small ear infection. He hasn't been fussy at all, nor has had a fever so I opted to skip the antibiotic. If it's not needed, then I'll let his little body fight it. The Ped said that if any symptoms come up where he's uncomfortable, to give the office a call and they would call in for an antibiotic. He backed my decision to wait.

Other things our little Nathan is doing: Has a wide vocabulary range from ewww, to waffles to I see you. Yes, he has two 3 phrase sentences! I see you and there he is. He's pointing to all his body parts and even says bathroom when someone says pee or poop to him. I tell ya, this child is a genius!!! As are all of my kids ~ and YOURS too for that matter. Kids these days are so much more smarter than when we were... well I think in anyway :) LOL

Good thing I didn't know

Well, the strangest thing happened today. From my earlier post, I was obviously on edge from the quiet in the house while the boys were at school and Nathan was asleep. I spoke of a "scare-fest" because of the settings I was in. Here's the good thing I'm glad I didn't know...Well, come to find out later while picking up Joshua at school... there was a bank robbery not far from where we live and the school was on "code yellow" otherwise known as lock down. As we were all waiting in our vehicles to pick up our kindergartners, the principal was going from car to car letting us know about the lock down and that our children were not going to be released to us until the suspects were caught and the police notified the school as such. There was even talk that the kids would have to eat lunch at the school because of this. So here I sit in the parking lot, thinking I'm going to be sitting here with a toddler waiting for the clearance for hours upon hours. I only had two short videos with me and was hoping that it was going to be enough to entertain Nathan. But after only 20 minutes or so, a teacher let us know that they would release the children to us but that we would have to walk up to the building and stand in the foyer and the children would be released one by one to each parent... craziness!! I was standing there waiting and Joshua's teacher saw me, grabbed Joshua by the hand and walked him to me and didn't let go of his hand until I had a hold of his hand. We're talking being very careful! I'm glad to have him home. They opened the doors once again around 1pm this afternoon after the two suspects were caught. That's good news because I was worried about Zachary not coming home on time this afternoon.

All during this, I received 6 email alerts from the school. So while I was posting my earlier post, all of these emails were coming to me without me knowing it because I didn't sign on to AOL. I would have been a wreck!! The school system was giving everyone a heads up as news was coming to them from the police. I can't believe how tremendously comforting it is to know that the school has embraced this alert system. Way to go Noblesville Schools!!

It's too quiet

It's been a very productive day today. Woke up a little earlier than usual, was able to have a cup of coffee by 7am and relaxed a little before the boys came down after getting ready for school. After sending them to the bus stop and watched them take off for school (8:15am), I checked Facebook (why not?) and kept listening for Nathan to wake up. So by 8:45 or so, no sounds from Nathan and I decided to clean the bathrooms... secretly hoping Nathan would wake up so I didn't have to clean them LOL.

So here I sit, bathrooms clean (okay maybe not my shower, but I'll get to it, really I will) and still just a little noise or two from Nathan. It's eerily quiet in this home and I'm continually aware of all the settling going on. Creaks, the wind and rain... all the makings for a scare-fest! I tell ya, my imagination is running wild and I keep looking over my shoulder... it's craziness! Any one of my family members will tell ya how much of an imagination I have, especially Brian ;)

I think I'll go turn on the TV or radio for some background noise... Have a great day everyone!

Well look at that!

Okay, so granted, I did a little starvation thing over the weekend (particulars...) but boy did I see a good number on the scale on Monday morning. We're talking dance-around-the-bathroom happy, call-Brian happy. Wow, I'm so excited! So you know what I did to celebrate? Ate some graham crackers and icing... two of them LOL. Not worried! It's all good. I did find that I rather enjoy the Veggie Delite from Subway though. :) Here's to more workouts and lower numbers on the scale. I'm posting a picture of my chart not only to embarass myself, but to motivate myself :)

Discouraging...

Well, here I sit on my 4th week of working my butt off on the treadmill and watching what I eat and there has been no drastic change in my weight. Is this my age and the slow down of my metabolism at work here? I'm so freaking discouraged! Almost to the point that I would like to see what would happen if I didn't eat anything but cereal and a piece of fruit for dinner. What would I weigh tomorrow? Take that body!!!

Can you feel my frustrations??? Oh well! My goal date is May 18th and that's losing one pound per week ~ so far I've only lost 2lb in 4 ~ ugh!! Now, on a better note, because I always try to find positives, my jeans are fitting better, even after being washed and dried :) So why in the heck am I not seeing a decline on the scale?

Enough of my ranting ~ just needed to get this off of my chest. Good days are ahead!! ;)

Going Crazy Over Here!!!

Oh, I'm about ready to go into Facebook with-drawls! I mean come on, how can one little site, filled with all of my friends and their what's, how's, who's and where's be so important and addictive to me?? Day 3 is upon me and I'm seriously needing to just get off of the computer before my little mouse wanders up to the top of this monitor and clicks on the Facebook icon. I'm a mess over here... but at least I'm keeping up with my blog, right???

So today is a day of so much excitement for Christy ~ her husband is home from Iraq after being over there for 8-1/2 months... hugs to you and your family, Christy! I'm so happy that he made it home safely. :)

Boys are on a 2 hour delay today because of the extreme cold weather. We're sitting at 5 degrees right now with a -10 wind chill. Unfortunately Joshua's kindergarten class won't meet today but I suppose that will give us more time to either do puzzles or look at books. Heck with all of my free time now (thanks to being FB-less TWO MORE DAYS), we might as well break out the board games :)

So now what can I ramble on about?? Let's see... I'm on a workout frenzy these days. Worked out a total of 19 times in January and working on my 4th straight day in February. Unfortunately I'm not seeing much decline on the scale, but I think it's because I'm building muscle. So I just need to be patient because once this muscle gets lean, it'll start attacking those fat cells and away we go. Can you believe it? I'm actually able to jog 3 miles without stopping ~ this is an all time record for me, I tell ya! Heck just a couple of months ago, I couldn't even get through 3 minutes without stopping. If I can do it, anyone can. So my goal this month is to workout 19 times or more. It's a big goal, but I'm so neurotic about it right now, that I think I can do it.

Suppose I better go get Nathan. He's upstairs babbling and wanting to get some waf-faf's :) Have an awesome day to all who are reading this ~ Hugs to everyone!!! ( I think the caffeine is beginning to do it's work, I'm a frantic mess over here) Good thing I'm not talking to Brian right now on the phone, I'd be talking his ear off LOL I sometimes ramble and talk too fast... have I ever mentioned that I leave 2-3 minute messages on phone machines?? Nothing like a good ol' conversation with myself... that's for another rambling session. Better go!!

Winter Fun 2009

Finally! After many incredibly incorrect forecasts, we had enough snow for the kids to play in. Zachary took a measuring stick outside with them and measured 10" so they had a blast making snow angels, snowballs and "beds". Nathan stayed inside with us but next year we'll let him get out and run wild.

Zachary's Birthday ~ 8 years old

Another birthday has come and gone ~ Zachary turned 8 on Friday, Jan. 30th! I tell you, this boy had been looking forward to this day 120 days ago. I know this because we actually counted on the calendar and practically counted down every other week until about 19 days left and then it was every day.

Zachary's dreams of a Spongebob-Pizza Hut-sleepover birthday came true. I won't elaborate too much, but do you have any idea how long it takes to make a special cake?? Well for someone like me who is somewhat of a perfectionist, it takes 2-1/2 hours ~ LOL! I mean seriously, there were about 5 different colors to put on Spongebob, not to mention that I had to put yellow food coloring in the white icing... didn't dawn on me to buy lemon!!! At any rate, so I'm carefully decorating the cake, layer after layer of icing on top of the other, using toothpicks to outline the eyes, smile and teeth and making belt loops... and 2-1/2 hours later, we have an icing cake with minimal actual cake. I waited to put the Ding-Dongs and Swiss Cake Rolls on until after Zachary came home just to break up the whole adventure. Did I mention that I kept getting so close to the cake that I kept getting icing in my hair ~ it was quite an experience with Spongey!! But you know what? I'd probably do it all over again if one of the boys asked :)

Okay, so the cakes done, now time for the sleepover. It actually went very well. We only had two other boys come over which was a perfect number for us. Ate a little pizza, had the cake opened the presents and all of the other time was spent listening to the boys have fun. Granted, there are 5 boys in the home, there will be noise but looking back they were all pretty good. We settled them down at night with a movie and then sent them off to bed in a tent. I set up a 2 man tent in the bedroom which was perfect for the 3 older boys. Joshua stayed in his own bed for the night. I'm perfectly happy with having boys sleep over here, I just dread the day that Zachary gets his first invite to go over to someone else's home overnight... I'll be a nervous wreck wondering if he's okay. I'll cross that bridge when it comes, I suppose.

Happy Birthday, Brian!!

Our first birthday of the year! My most handsome husband, Brian turned 37 on the 11th which turned out to be a really special day for him because the Steeler's were on and they won :) We started out his birthday weekend eating at Romano's Macaroni Grill ~ fabulous food and the restaurant was so busy and loud that we hardly heard the boys LOL. I made him a cake that he randomly picked out of a cookbook and it was pretty delish. I whipped up some heavy cream and added toffee bits to it. It was hard not to have more than one piece :) Brian enjoyed it and that's what matters so I made sure he had LOTS of it. Brian definitely deserves all the joy we can give him. Unfortunately life with children sometimes gets hectic and his needs are pushed aside ~

A New Year

Welcome 2009!! Hence a new chapter in the Lamantia household. There are already lots of plans for the year. The plans range from fun to not so fun... but we'll focus on the fun :P
Lots to do to catch up! I've finally been able to get up a new layout and that's what was holding me back from updating. Now that I have that taken care of, I'm ready to start doing lots of typing :)
